Full Description
Large quantity of post medieval material was recovered during building work at 30 Duke Street in the late 1970s. The assemblage appears to have been collected during ongoing building works over a period of a few years and the exact date and location of the finds is unknown, all finds are unstratified and included brick and tile as well as pottery.
The assemblage included a wide range of table wares and utility objects belonging to the late 17th to mid 19th centuries. 17th century fine wares included slipware dishes, mottled wares, and 3 fragments of plain locally produced clay tobacco pipes. Also found were fragments of utilitarian 18th century white salt glaze stoneware and tin glazed tableware and black brown glazed storage vessels. (1)
