Summary

A market area to the east side of Market Square and adjacent to the Old Bishop’s Palace was in operation throughout the 19th century at least, originally the poultry market it became the potato market by the mid 19th century housed in a long narrow range comprising a single large bay with an open frontage and two enclosed bays at the north end.
