Full Description
During extensive excavations at the site of the Royal Infirmary in 1992, a deposit containing a large amount of clay tobacco pipe kiln waste was found. It was thought that this was a dump of seventeenth century material derived from pipe manufacture, and it should be noted that a pipe kiln was found nearby over the course of a different excavation (CHER 10382).
