Full Description

A small brewery, named the Cestrian Brewery on 19th century maps, was recorded to the rear of properties on Foregate Street. It had been demolished by the mid 1960s.

Archaeological recording undertaken in 2021-2022 during groundworks as part of the construction of a new build retail store, recorded the angle of a wall to the rear of 83 Foregate Street. Wall 124, located in Row H of the groundworks, coincides with the northern extent of the Cestrian Brewery as depicted on historic mapping.
