Full Description

A small Baptist Chapel was once built on Pepper Street with a capacity of 250, marked on 19th century maps it also included a graveyard in front. It was demolished sometime in the late 20th century. (1)

The chapel was built for a congregation originally based in Lower Bridge Street until 1827 when it moved to its new premises at Pepper Street. The congregation continued to hold meetings here until 1860 after which it remained empty for several years until a new Baptist congregation met here between 1871 and 1880. (3)
