Summary

An almshouse was organised by a trust set up by William Jones of the Middle Temple in 1658. The almshouse was located on Pepper Street adjoining St Michael’s Church and was for six women and four men. The trust continued until 1948 when the buildings were sold off and later demolished to make way for the Grosvenor Shopping Centre.
