Full Description
Six almshouses were built in Crook Street by William Wardell in 1859 in partnership with a trust set up by Thomas Green (1). The building survived until 1973 when it was demolished to make way for redevelopment (2)
Archaeological investigations at the site in 1973 identified several wall foundations for the 19th century almshouse including the rear external walls and evidence of several outbuildings to the rear. (3)
