Monument record 10031 - St John’s Street, Chester

St John’s Street dates to the 13th century at least, referred to in documents in around 1228 as ‘Irnmonger Strete’ and as vicus Sancti Johannis in 1238. Although it is unclear whether it was a focus for industrial activity in the early medieval period – no archaeological evidence for such activity has yet been uncovered. (1)
