Godstall Lane is a narrow passage leading off from Eastgate Street north to the abbey precinct, it was first mentioned in 1502 and survives to the present day. (1) It has formerly been called ‘Saint Goddestall Lane’ and was recorded on a 1567 list of street names produced by Richard Dutton, mayor of Chester located (3)
