Full Description
St Werburgh Street originally ran north from Eastgate Street as far as the abbey precinct only, its continuation round to Northgate Street being a 19th century addition. It is first mentioned in 1488 (2) and was certainly in existence by 1567 when a list of street names was produced by the then mayor of Chester, Richard Dutton. (1)
