Full Description

Evidence of a possible Saxon stone building, in the form of two parallel walls built over a rubble layer, were recorded to the west of the bath complex (south of the elliptical building) during archaeological excavations in 1994 (2). The site report notes the presence of Chester ware on the site, describes these walls as post-Roman, but also states that they were found in association with an opus signinum floor (2). Another source notes that evidence of sixth century stone architecture was found during these excavations, but does not justify the comment (6).
