Evidence of a Roman demolition layer were recorded in during archaeological investigations at Northgate Street in 2005. The layer included several fragments of Roman brick, tile and stone and overlay structural evidence of a barrack building.

Evidence of a Roman demolition layer were recorded in during archaeological investigations at Northgate Street in 2005. The evidence comprised several layers [Context 29 & 30] in trench 2 of the evaluation overlying the structural evidence for the barrack building (CHER 8173). (1)
