Full Description

Archaeological investigations carried out in 1945 at St Martin’s Fields adjacent to what is now the central bus station encountered evidence of an area of compacted sandstone blocks at the western edge of the trench. Although not fully excavated, it was tentatively interpreted as a possible road surface. (1)
