Monument record 6998 - Milestone on A56 in Daresbury

A milestone is marked at this location on OS 1st, 2nd and 3rd editon historic Maps ( 6 and 26 inch). Map annotation on 1st edition maps (1 & 4) reads Chester 16 miles but the later 2nd and 3rd editions (2,3,5,& 6) have "Warrington 4 1/2 miles" and "Frodsham 5 miles". Details and images of this stone were sent to the HER in January 2012.It is a sandstone block which would originaly have had a metal plate attached to the front, now missing.(7)
