Full Description
Several accounts from the 18th and 19th century recorded evidence of a substantial drain or sewer on an east-west alignment beneath Abbey Court large enough that it was possible to stand upright. Although frequently attributed to the Roman period the drain may in fact by the 13th century water supply for the abbey (CHER 10640/13).
