Full Description
The results of recent excavations at the site of the amphitheatre (between 2004 – 2007, ECH5048) demonstrate that a long-lived roadway or metalled surface to the north of the Amphitheatre 2 (note the roadway seen in isolated locations to the south of the amphitheatre is CHER 8473). Although detailed information on this feature is pending publication (as of 2011) it has been reported that beyond the outer wall (CHER 8470/1), a series of five to six metalled surfaces have been identified, the earliest of which appears to be contemporary with the construction of the second amphitheatre (1, 2).
