Summary

Archaeological investigations at Bridge Street in 2001 identified a layer of sandstone rubble over much of the Roman evidence including the late Roman east-west aligned road surface. Dating for this surface was complicated however with only residual Roman finds found.

Full Description

Archaeological investigations to the rear of 25 Bridge Street in 2001 identified a layer of sandstone rubble [Layer 1237] and soil deposition over much of the Roman evidence including the late Roman east-west aligned road surface. The layer may also have included demolition spread from the adjacent fortress baths (1)
