During the excavation of four trial trenches in the central courtyard of the former BT Exchange Building in 2006, one piece of residual Roman pottery was recovered, but no Roman features or deposits were identified (1). This result was unexpected, as previous work (ECH2486) reported clearly identifiable Roman features very near this location.
