Full Description
Fragment of Roman cornice recorded at the medieval Drum Tower, possibly as a piece of reused masonry (1)
During the third century the Roman fortress experienced a period of extensive re-building including significant repair and reconstruction along the fortress defences. It is probably at this time that a large number of re-used masonry, tombstones and other architectural pieces were included in the fabric of the wall. (2)
