Full Description

Traces of a metalled surface underlying the pavement in front of No 50 Bridge Street was observed in 1999 during archaeological investigations. The surface consisted of large rough red sandstone ‘tiles’ and large rounded cobblestones with evidence of metalling. Artefactual evidence from this surface was limited to a single fragment of probably residual tegulae. (1)
