Full Description

Over the course of an extensive archaeological evaluation carried out in the grounds of West Cheshire College in 2006, several distinct phases of Roman activity were identified (1). The earliest two of these phases were cultivation layers. The earlier Phase I, based on the ceramic evidence, dated to between the first and third century, but based on its stratigraphic position and the dating evidence form later horizons, the excavators suggested that this layer was cultivated during the first century. Phase 2 was dated to between the first and second centuries (1).
