Monument record 8250 - Roman Cess Pit and Occupation Debris, Cuppin Street (Magistrates Court)

Excavations at the site of the Magistrates Court, off Cuppin St. in 1986 revealed a sequence of Roman activity just to the southwest of the Roman fortress (1). To the south of a northeast – southwest running road (CHER 8114), was what is reported as a substantial amount of occupation debris, and a cess pit feature (1).

Perhaps related to this material (published information unavailable), are a series of rubbish dumps dating to the second century that eventually buried a section of a rampart at this location (CHER 8209/2). Please note that although no finds records have been attached to this monument, this is due to a lack of published information on the site, and likely not a reflection of the archaeology.
