A brick built farmhouse with a date stone recording a date of 1751. It has been much altered. There is a fire plaque of Guardian Royal Exchange Assurance Co.

Two brick string courses, both projecting, one of three courses, the other of two. The strings carried across gable at eaves level. Headers of yellow brick, emphasize Flemish bonding. One original leaded light window with irregularly shaped panes of inferior quality glass. Part of window filled in with very large bricks. Bay windows added in Victorian period. Fairly old outshut with plank door and fairly tall chimney (possibly associated with tanning).

Deeds dated 1721 and 1749 refer to the Tan House Estate being leased by Sir Charles Pickering of Bradford Wood, Over, to Moses Ryder of Kingsley. Moses and Elizabeth Ryder built the present house (their initials are recorded on the date stone). Old animal remains found in the orchard may be remnants of the tanning business.
