Criteria A: Unlisted timber framed buildings in Vale Royal which contain structural or building techniques which were designed to reduce the effects of subsidence.

Symmetrical commercial garage building dating from c.1919. At one time this was the site of the main dealership (Hitchin and Mercer) for the Austin Motor Company (1905-1952) in Northwich. At the time of survey, the building was Arden's carpet showrooms. Centrally placed large double doors at the front with a projecting semi-circular lead light illuminated 'Garage' sign above. Steel girder raft to brick base. Woodwork i.e. timber framing painted red. Leaded lights to top of semi-circular bays. Projecting blind dormer.
