Buckle, possibly Roman found by Wrexham Metal Detecting Club, handed into the Grovesnor Museum for identification on 1996 (1).

A copper alloy cast lyre shaped buckle plate of medieval or post medieval date (AD1390-1460). The buckle loop is broken forming a hollow with the two remaining buckle sides protruding outwards. The remaining loop had sets of two perforated holes on either side, probably to attach rivets. The pin is present but snapped. The buckle narrows to an indented neck joining to the box chape plate which is engraved with an unclear monogram. The buckle has a mid greyish green patina.
