Full Description
A linear cut feature interpreted as either a drainage gully or a property boundary ditch running south from the Roman predecessor of the street, was revealed in Area 1, during archaeological excavations at 54 – 60 Foregate St., Chester, in 2011 (1).
The feature could be traced for the entire length of the excavation area, measured c 0.5m deep and approximately 1.2m wide, and contained Roman pottery, ceramic building material and one piece of window glass (1).
