Full Description

A linear feature cut into the natural clay subsoil and filled with a dark sediment was identified in Trench 1 during an archaeological evaluation at the Leadworks in 2002 (1).

The evidence consisted of a sealed linear cut [context 27] on a north west to south east alignment and measured 3.90m long and 0.40m wide at the base of trench 1 at a depth of 1.50m below present ground level. No dating evidence was recovered from the fill of the pit, however. (1)
