Full Description
A linear feature or ditch, aligned east – west, was recorded during an archaeological evaluation on the land between Russell St., Steam Mill St. and Canal Side, Chester, in 2001 (1). Due to the restricted nature of the trench (Trench 3), the dimensions of the cut could not be determined. The fill contained pottery dated broadly from the second to fourth centuries, and feature was cut into the natural clay subsoil (1). The feature was interpreted as a possible field boundary.
