Full Description
A deposit containing abundant sherds of Roman pottery dating to between AD 120 – 150, lying within a narrow and shallow scoop within the bedrock, adjacent to a probable wall foundation (CHER 8102) and a rock-cut feature (CHER 8104), found during an archaeological evaluation at the corner of The Groves and Souter’s Lane, Chester, in 2007 (1). Whether this was an intentional (i.e. rubbish) deposit or not is unclear (1).
