Full Description
Roman silver ring found at Robberhill in December 1995 at a depth of c100mm by a local farmer. The SMR office was notified in April 1996 and photographs of it were sent to the British Museum for identification at this time also. Identified by the BM who wrote that as far as could be judged from the photographs the ring is likely to be of Roman date, probably of the first or second century AD. It would originally have contained a hardstone setting, which would almost certainly have been engraved with a decorative device (1). Ring now with the finder. Photographs and BM letter in the SMR.
