Summary

Archaeological investigations at Nicholas Street Mews identified a complex series of Roman deposits dating from the late first century through to the third century with structural evidence possibly surviving into the medieval period. A single trench was excavated to the rear of 10-12 Nicholas Street Mews. Following the demolition of a timber built structure (Structure 8 CHER 8079) a layer of debris and demolition material gradually built up over the northern half of the excavated area. This debris comprised several rubbish dumps of a mid third century date.

Archaeological investigations at Nicholas Street Mews identified a complex series of Roman deposits dating from the late first century through to the third century with structural evidence possibly surviving into the medieval period. A single trench was excavated to the rear of 10-12 Nicholas Street Mews.
