Full Description
Evidence for a Roman road comprising a cobbled surface bordered by stone lined channels on a northwest to southeast alignment. A section of the cobbled surface was initially uncovered during investigations in 2004 and later examined in more detail in 2007.

Archaeological evaluation in 2004 at the Nun’s Field site encountered a hard surface in trenches 1 and 2 to the north of the site containing quantities of Roman material of a generally second century date.

Investigations in 2007 identified two metalled areas suggesting a road on a north west to south east alignment across the site. In its earliest phase the road was bordered by stone lined drainage channels that were later robbed away.
