Full Description
A bank across the mouth of steeply incised valley containing the Firwood Brook. A further earthwork runs from the end of the bank curving down slope towards the road (1). The bank forms a dam across the course of the book and water would have backed up into the valley forming a pond. The other earthwork may be a leat. It is probable that this is associated with the reputed mill at Dairy House (CHER 821/2). The specific location of any mill buildings is unknown, but they are likely to be located to either side of the dam (2).
