Summary

Mouldsworth Hall, Smithy Lane is a grade II listed farmhouse. Built in the late 16th century, with early 18th and 19th century alterations and additions and a major 20th century renovation. It is build of washed brick on an ashlar plinth. It has a slate roof and a stone ridge with one lateral ashlar chimney and three brick chimneys.

Full Description

Mouldsworth Hall, Smithy Lane. Farmhouse, late C16, with early C18 and C19 alterations and additions, major C20 renovation. Washed brick on an ashlar plinth. Slate roof, stone ridge, one lateral ashlar chimney and three brick chimneys. L-shaped plan. Two-storey, four-bay front. Windows have cambered brick heads to casements with glazing bars. Left end bay projects slightly. Interior: Reveals some timber small framing with wattle & daub infill of an L-shaped house. Heavy chamfered ceiling beams and an exposed truss with vertical strutting above the tiebeam. Upstairs is a good rebated and cyma-moulded stone fireplace with a four-centered arched head and a moulded stone shelf above. Full architectural description (1).
