Full Description
Whilst MARS project workers were surveying Pond Bay (SMR 1955/1/1) they had a conversation with a farm hand at Smithy Farm who related that a local 'old boy' knew a stand of hawthorns as the local cockpit. There were no distinctive features on inspection at the location within the bank of Pond Bay, at the western side opposite Smithy Farm. The bank of this structure could easily have been used as seating for an audience, with fighting in the bottom. Views would now be obstructed by several hawthorns and other scrub (1).
