Summary

Hinderton Grange Quarry Road Hinderton Neston Built in 1913, the house is a late example of a Liverpool merchants house, of which there are a number in this area. It is approached via entrance gates set in splayed walls of coursed sandstone capped with York stone flat copings and ball finials to pillars. The main house has pitched slate roofs, as has the single storey former coach house at rear (now converted). A distinctive French Romanesque tiered arch distinguishes the main doorway but the houses rear elevation to garden is less distinctive, with altered windows. The detailing has “Arts and Crafts” elements, reflecting the works of William Morris and John Ruskin.

Description

Approached via entrance gates set in splayed walls of coursed sandstone capped with York stone flat copings and ball finials to pillars.

The house is a late example of a Liverpool merchants house, of which there are a number in this area.

The detailing has “Arts and Crafts” elements, reflecting the works of William Morris and John Ruskin.

Pitched slate roofs to main house and to single storey former coach house at rear (now converted) to form courtyard. Distinctive French Romanesque tiered arch main doorway. Elevation to garden is less distinctive, with altered windows.

Condition

Good – currently building work being carried out to alter single storey rear extension.
