Summary

Whitby Hall Stanney Lane Ellesmere Port A mid-Victorian home built in 1860 in the English Gothic style in the manner of AWN Pugin. Pitched roofs of red clay plain tiles with a substantive overhang to gable ends and decorative barge boards and ridge piece. The windows are in a pointed rectilinear style with light coloured brick surrounds in the manner of stone quoins contrasting with the main walls of local red common brick. There is some sandstone detailing to entrance porch and sills, some of which may be reclaimed from the former Whitby Old Hall. Three lime avenues of 28 lime trees were planted in the grounds to celebrate the George V Coronation in 1937.

Description

A mid-Victorian home in the English Gothic style in the manner of AWN Pugin. Pitched roofs of red clay plain tiles, substantive overhang to gable ends with decorative barge boards and ridge piece.

Pointed rectilinear style windows with light coloured brick surrounds in the manner of stone quoins.

Main walls local red common brick.

Some sandstone detailing to entrance porch and sills, some of which may be reclaimed from the former Whitby Old Hall.

Three small avenues of 28 lime planted in the grounds to celebrate the George V Coronation in 1937.


Condition

Fair (weatherproof). May need treatment for rot.
