Summary

1 & 2 Manor Villas are a pair of cottages adjoining “The Croft”, which is of earlier date than Manor Villas. They are a much altered block of 17th century cottages with a shallow pitch slate roof above an upper floor built of limewashed brown brick and a ground floor built of roughly coursed sandstone. A smooth dressed ashlar string course delineates the floors. Each cottage has one modern wood hinged casement window with glazing bars and semi dormer windows lighting the first floor. The sills of the dormers are brick on edge corbelled brackets. There is a central rectangular red brick chimney stack serving both Villas and each has a distinctive curved “Queen Anne” canopy on plain brackets above the main doors.

Description

A pair of cottages adjoining “The Croft”, which is of earlier date than Manor Villas.

A much altered block of C17 cottages, shallow pitch slate roof above limewashed brown brick, above roughly coursed sandstone to ground floor.

Each has one modern wood hinged casement window with glazing bars; rectangular red brick chimney stack between Villas.

Semi-dormers to first floor with plain tile sills below windows on brick on edge corbled brackets. Ashlar smooth dressed stone string course at first floor level.

Distinctive curved “Queen Anne” canopies above doors on plain brackets.
