Summary

Hospital Gate House and Gate Posts 2 Manor Park Drive Great Sutton Built in 1899 as the lodge to Manor Hospital it is built with a steeply pitched red plain tile roof above single storey lodge of smooth Ashlar dressed and coursed sandstone on a projecting plinth. There is Victorian black and white timbering in a narrow course below the eaves and to gables. The chimneys of the lodge and the adjacent gateposts to the driveway are constructed in finely dressed York stone - of finer quality than elsewhere on site. The gate posts have roughly dressed tops that cut across the pattern work in an arbitrary manner suggesting the stonework is reused from elsewhere, possibly brought from Liverpool at the same time as the “Liverbird” lampposts also on site.
