Hospital Gate House and Gate Posts
LL28 (Previously LL GS/4 and LLGS4B)
Address: 2 Manor Park Drive, Great Sutton
Architect: Probably Douglas & Frodsham, Chester
Date: 1899
Description
Lodge to Manor Hospital (LL29).
Steeply pitched red plain tile roof above single storey lodge of smooth Ashlar dressed and coursed sandstone and projecting plinth.
Victorian black and white timbering to narrow course below eaves and to gables.
Chimneys of lodge and adjacent gateposts to driveway of finely dressed York stone of finer quality than elsewhere on site.
Gate posts have roughly dressed tops that cut across the pattern work in an arbitrary manner suggesting the stonework is reused from elsewhere, possibly brought from Liverpool at the same time as the “Liverbird” lampposts also on site.
Condition
Good.
Current use
Now in use as a domestic dwelling.
