Full Description
There has been a timber framed building on this site for at least 300 years. The report may suggest the the bricks had been made in the Poyton area. The building has been demolished but a selection of hand made bricks and a section of timber framing were retained for re-use (1).
A building which corresponds to the western part of Wych Cottage is depicted on the c.1850 tithe map for Adlington township. The Owner for the surrounding gardens is listed at Charles Richard Banastre Legh (of Adlington Hall) and the occupier as Samule Bayley (2).
