Full Description
Rake Hall, Rake Lane. Pub and Restaurant, formerly house. C17 altered and added to. Pebbledashed brick, slate roofs, rendered plinth, stone dressings. Center wing of three storeys, two windows, steeply pitched roof. Windows are timber casements. One dormer. First and second floor bands are rendered, that at second floor is moulded. At right is lower two storey, four window wing. Modern one storey extension in front. At left, two storey, one window wing with hipped roof has canted bay and casements. Garden front is in two wings, prob early C19. Both with hipped slate roofs. Two storeys, three bays. At left and right are canted bays, one at right with oriel. Interior: Much altered, but part of C17 close string stair. Rough hewn beams in hall supported by Jacobean screen of two columns. Upper floor rooms in C19 wings have six- panelled doors and simple panelled ceilings and moulded cornices. Formerly seat of Bunbury family. Full architectural description (1).
