Full Description
A cast copper alloy key dating to the Medieval period and found by metal detector. The key has a hollow circular sectioned stem and a circular bow. The bow is decorated with three projecting rounded knops. Below the bow is a collar which would have prevented the key being inserted too far into the lock. A channel connects the bit to the stem. The bit contains four wards and three clefts. Above the bit one side of the stem has broken away. The object has a mid green patina and is corroded (1).
