Full Description
Hoard of 42 medieval coins and a silver ring found on farmland between the River Dee and South of Henlake Brook, farmed by tenant of Grosvenor Estate, April 1986. Coins are from Edward I to Henry VI, with the latest minted at Calais, 1430-1434. Highest denomination-gold 1/4 noble of Henry. Total face value of hoard - 9 shillings, 6 1/2 pence. Found with metal detectors and reported 1987 (1). Found in a field at Cheaveley Hall Farm. Hoard consisted of 1 gold coin and 41 silver coins. Coins were identified by the Grosvenor Museum and were declared treasure trove (2).
