Monument record 1940/1 - Battle of Rowton Moor

Rowton Moor, the site of the battle between Royalists and Parliamentarians on 24 September 1645. Charles I's army was defeated, with over 1,000 dead or captured, by the Parliamentary forces, led by Major General Poyntz (1).
