Full Description
<1> Portable Antiquities Scheme, Various, Portable Antiquities Data Import, LVPL-CFE212 (Digital Archive). SCH5212.
Cast lead weight possibly dating to the Roman period, (45-410AD). It is circular in plan and oval in cross-section. The upper surface is inscribed with the Roman numerals IIII. The object is probably Roman, although the weighing systems put in place by the Romans in Britain remained in use into the Medieval period. A similar example can be found in (3).
