Cast copper alloy Headstud type brooch dating from the 1st -2nd century AD. The object has short wings stepped frontally. The bow curves in one continuous sweep. On the crest of the head is the remains of a Colchester type forward hook. On the reverse of the head the attachment loop for the spring remains. The headstud is circular and contains a triangle of red enamel, two more panels can be seen where the enamel is missing. The bow has nine panels which contained alternating colours of enamel. A few of these panels still retain red and beige enamel. The foot is made up of four stepped mouldings. The deep catchplate is broken. It has a mottled mid-green patina and shows signs of corrosion.
