Full Description
Mid 18th century large lead statue of a reclining nude, bearded, male figure, said to be Father Tiber, resting on his elbow and tipping a gadrooned urn forward. It is now on a rough stone plinth but the statue was moved from the Wilderness Garden in c1960. On the brick wall behind are 2 former capstones of gate piers. These are in buff sandstone and have fine carved unicorns' heads placed to face each other. The unicorn is the Legh's emblem and the heads were moved from the tops of the pillars at the same time as the statue.
