Summary

Mill Pond for Huxley Mill, a 17th century undershot watermill with a known medieval precursor. The pond is shown on 19th century maps as a wider pond than survives in the 21st century.

Full Description

Mil Pond that feeds Higher Huxley Mill. It is shown on first edition Ordnance Survey maps from the 1870's. On these maps it is wider, with earth works and a weir indicated. (1,2) It survives in the modern landscape and is described as a Mill Race on modern maps. Earthworks associated with Mill pond are indicated on modern maps.(3) It is now the main course of the River Gowy, the original water course cuts through the adjacent field.
