Full Description
The building, along with associate sidings, has a post-1872 date (1) as it not present on the OS map of that year. Presumably built to serve the Cheshire Lines Committee's Northwich - Chester Railway and Mouldsworth Junction - Helsby Railway (both completed 1869 2 ). The shed would have served as a focal point for the modest industrial activity undertaken within the quite well populated but rural region. The final destination of the goods seem likely to have been Northwich, Chester or the port of Birkenhead. The shed is no longer visible on the 1972 OS map (3) and the decrease in rail traffic is illustrated by the closure to passengers of the Mouldsworth Junction - Helsby Railway. (2)
