Monument record 2267/1/21 - Mouldsworth Junction Railway Station

Cheshire Lines Committee station building with a pre-1872 date (1) as it is present on the Ordnance Survey map of that year. Travelling westwards from Northwich the line junctures at this point with one line travelling to Chester, while the other travels north-west (also constructed in 1869) to meet the Birkenhead Railway's Helsby - Hooton track just outside Helsby. Consisting of a main station building on the south, and a less substantive structure on the north side of the track, the level of traffic for both lines was substantive enough to warrant the nearby existence of a goods shed and sidings, railway cottages and a building labeled as Station Hotel on a 1910 map. (2) The building is still in use as a station by 1972, (4) but it is unclear whether it is used as a passenger terminus for the Helsby - Hooton line as that is now labeled as a mineral railway.
